Jennifer Mehaffey

Jennifer MehaffeyJennifer Mehaffey is a 2008 Knauss Fellow who will be working in the CMTS Executive Secretariat on a one-year assignment, sponsored by NOAA’s Sea Grant Fellowship program. 

Ms Mehaffey recently graduated from the joint-degree program; receiving a Master’s in Marine Affairs from University of Rhode Island and a law degree from Roger Williams University. She coordinated and drafted a municipal harbor management plan for the city of Warwick on behalf of the R.I. Coastal Resources Management Council and has worked with the Northeast Aquatic Nuisance Species Panel to create a regional ballast water management plan to control invasive species. Ms Mehaffey has also worked on issues relating to international maritime law and is a member of the U.S. delegation that will participate in the June 2008 UNCITRAL Carriage of Goods by Sea Convention negotiations. 

Ms. Mehaffey is a member of the Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society and graduated magna cum laude from Mount Holyoke College. She received the 2006 National Association of Women Judges Award for Access to Justice.  Ms. Mehaffey is a licensed attorney in the 3rd Judicial District of the State of New York.
