CMTS • Maritime Data Policy Advisor and Infrastructure Investment Coordinator
Chase Long is the CMTS staff lead of the Maritime Data Integrated Action Team and serves as the action coordinator of the Maritime Infrastructure Investment Integrated Action Team. Prior to joining the CMTS in 2020, Chase completed a Sea Grant Knauss Marine Policy Fellowship at NOAA in the Office of the Chief Data Officer and the Office of the Chief Information Officer. As the first NOAA Data Policy Fellow, Chase supported the operations of the Office of the Chief Data Officer by tracking legislation, interpreting emerging federal data policies such as the Federal Data Strategy, and engaging with internal and external data-focused bodies such as the Environmental Data Management Committee and the Center for Open Data Enterprise.
Chase earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Coastal Biology from the University of North Florida. He is completing a Master of Science degree in Marine Science with a concentration in fisheries at the Virginia Institute of Marine Science.
